Front view of a painted cat's head mummy originally from an unidentified city in Egypt, now housed at the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology in Ann Arbor, MI. "Cats were an important animal to the ancient Egyptians and were often mummified after death in the same way that humans were. Cats were also given in offering to the cat goddess, Bast.
