Description

Interior view of large office with drawing tables, filing cabinets and a wall of windows at the Plymouth Motor Corporation office building in Detroit, MI designed by Albert Kahn, c. 1928. “The Plymouth Motor Corporation was set up as a division of the Chrysler Corporation in 1928. This provided Kahn with the opportunity to build a completely modern factory unencumbered by obsolete structures. Located on Lynch Road at Mt. Elliott Avenue, the vast Plymouth plant, all on one level, is one-half mile long. Daylight is provided by various types of monitors and there are twelve and one-half miles of conveyor systems. The assembly line is the longest in the industry,”—The Buildings of Detroit, by W. Hawkins Ferry, 1980. Printed on back of photograph:
