Description

Interior view of large container hanging from a pulley hook at the American Steel Foundries Cast Armor plant, East Chicago, Illinois designed by Albert Kahn Associates, c. 1943. “…the cast armor plant of the American Steel Foundries Company (1941) at East Chicago, Indiana, compares favorably with other types of factories. The curtain walls are composed of three rows of continuous sash separated by strips of asbestos siding, and the ends of the monitors are integrated in the overall design,”-- The Legacy of Albert Kahn, by Albert Kahn, Walter B. Sanders, 1987. Printed on back of photograph: If this Photograph is used for reproduction, kindly use the following credit line: Hedrich Blessing Studio 737 N Michigan Ave Chicago NEG. no. 7314 – A.
