Description

Exterior view of the Goetsch-Winckler house in Okemos, Michigan designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and completed in 1940. "It is a modest, one-story Usonian house with a strong horizontal emphasis due in part to the stepped eaves and extreme cantilever of the roof over the carport. Exterior view of windows along one side of Goetsch-Winckler house in Okemos, Michigan designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and completed in 1940, with trees and shrubs in foreground. "The house is oriented east-southeast to west-northwest and its plan is arranged to provide maximum privacy as well as a free-flowing interplay of nature and building ... The house is composed of a central living room/kitchen core with a bedroom wing that contains two bedrooms with a bathroom in between. A bank of glazed doors along the northeast elevation provides light to the interior and opens onto a small semicircular lawn,"--Michigan Modern website.
