Description
Exterior view of one side of the Peoples Federal Savings & Loan Association on Woodward Avenue in Royal Oak, Michigan, designed by Birkerts & Straub in 1962. "This small concrete building is symmetrical in plan, however, completely asymmetrical in the exterior wall development and structure. Vertical structure is flanking the openings through the wall and the light diffusing corners. Roof is separated from walls by a layer of glass of varying depth,"--Gunnar Birkerts : buildings, projects, and thoughts, 1960-1985, by Gunnar Birkerts.
