Description
Detail view of cherubs near the dome at Sant'Andrea al Quirinale in Rome, Italy. "Bernini gives the illusion of additional height by diminishing the size of the gilt coffering as it moves toward the lantern. Putti and saints are grouped above the windows, which are joined by elaborate swags of fruit and flowers. The dove of the Holy Spirit is in the lantern,"--by Mary Ann Sullivan, Bluffton University.
