Description
View of the entrance to Handelshof a trading palace built in 1908-1909 in Leipzig, Germany, with high relief sculpture of a man and woman standing on pedestals on opposite sides of the entrance, above reliefs of faces. Above the lintel is a figure (cherub?) atop a horse. The architects who designed the building were Georg Weidenbach and Richard Tschammer and the sculptor was Bruno Wollstadter. The building suffered heavy damage during allied bombing raids in World War II but was renovated and is now The Steigenberger Grandhotel Handelshof. Photo by Detroit architect, Albert Kahn. The word, "Leipzig" is hand written on front of photograph.
