Description
view of sculpture of headless, female torso, by Jim Dine at the Meijer Sculpture Gardens in Grand Rapids, Michigan. "Over the course of his celebrated career, American Pop Art master Jim Dine has developed personal icons from both popular culture and well-known works of art, such as the Venus di Milo. In The Thunder, Dine was inspired by the form of the classical sculpture, but manipulates the shape and texture of his work in order to make it his own. The deep, brooding patina further imbues Dine’s sculpture with a stormy presence alluded to in the title"--Meijer Sculpture Gardens website.
