Description
Detail view of brightly painted wall sections from one of the Terrace Houses at Ephesus, Turkey with winged cherubs often associated with Eros. "The floors were paved with mosaics and the walls were covered with frescoes or decorative marble. New frescoes were painted over the old ones, which were scraped so that the plaster of the new frescoes would hold. Generally, the frescoes depicted mythological themes, gods, goddesses, Muses, Eros and scenes from tragedies or comedies. Also, floral motifs were often used,"--Ephesus Ruins and Museum by Selahattin Erdemgil, NET Turistik Yayinlar, 1986.
