Description
View of tomb carved into the canyon wall heading into to Petra, Jordan, with crow-steps above the cavetto cornice, the opening below is damaged. "A major break in the architectural tradition came with the introduction of the cavetto cornice. Above this a band of multiple crow-steps would have looked lost and rather ridiculous, so at the same time another major innovation was made in the form of the single-divide crow-step of monumental proportions"--Petra by Iaian Browning, London: Chatto & Windus, 1989.
