Description
Reproduction of Apollo statue from the House of the Citharist in Pompeii, Italy. "The Casa del Citarista consisted originally of two houses, which were made into one by an opening between two of the peristylia. The Apollo Citharaedus was found in this house. The cithera has disappeared, but the god still holds the plectrum. The bronze statue is life size and deliberately archaic in style … It was found near a fountain in the garden of one of the peristylia, the walls of which were decorated with fine paintings,"--Pompei, the City, Its Life & Art, by Pierre Gusman.
