Description
Bird's eye view of the Scottish tower at Casa Loma in Toronto, Ontario designed by E.J. Lennox and completed in 1914. "The exterior of the building is sheathed in grey sandstone from the Credit River Valley. These stones were cut into long pieces about two inches in depth and mortared onto the concrete by highly skilled stonemasons brought over from Scotland for the job. These stones give a rough, deep grey appearance. Around each of the windows and doors and along the roof line and terraces is a smooth, lighter grey stone made from an artificial product called Roman stone. This provides an attractive highlight that outlines the features of the castle,"--Casa Loma: Canada's Fairy-Tale Castle and Its Owner, Sir Henry Pellatt, by Bill Freeman.
