Affleck house furniture design

Title

Affleck house furniture design

Description

Inspirational design based on overlapping components for furniture at the Affleck house in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Text accompanying the images reads: "Frank Lloyd Wright is known for his strong horizontal and vertical components. The Affleck house, an example of this technique expresses verticality and expresses elongated elements. From a three dimensional perspective, the vertical and horizontal pieces are extruded and become overlapping boxes. For the furniture designed, the "overlapping" motif is expressed. Each component of the furniture unit overlaps in plan, elevation and section. From the sketch at left, a busy composition is sketched, while three components help create the placement of a desk, drawer and shelving."
